Dragons defeat Hurricanes in five sets

The Holland College Hurricanes hosted the USTA Dragons on Sunday at the McMillan Centre, in ACAA Men's Volleyball action.

 

The Dragons dominated the first set, winning 25-8. 

 

The Dragons found success early from the serving line. Ethan Aucoin, Jeremy Bourque, Liam Pelletier, and Louis-Philipe LeBlanc all recorded aces in the first set of play.

 

The Hurricanes had a hard fought second set, winning 25-22. All players on the Hurricanes played well, contributing multiple kills each. 

 

Dragons fourth year outside hitter Louis-Philipe LeBlanc played exceptional, leading both teams with five kills in the second set.

 

The third set was all Hurricanes as they took the set 25-13. 

 

Everything was clicking for the Hurricanes, from their blocking to their serving. Dominik Pineau and Carson Gray were key reasons in the Canes success contributing in all aspects from kills to digs.

 

The Dragons stayed alive in the fourth set, winning a back and forth set 25-22. 

 

Dominik Pineau got a quick block and kill to bring the Hurricanes one point behind the Dragons (20-19). The Dragons responded well after taking a timeout, closing out the set, and tying the game 2-2.

 

It was a tough fifth set for the Canes losing 15-9. The Dragons beat the Hurricanes 3-2. 

 

The key players for the Hurricanes were Dominik Pineau with 11 kills, Carson Gray with 11 kills and 12 digs, and Tyler McBride with 33 assists.

 

The key players for the Dragons were Louis-Philipe LeBlanc with 19 kills, Liam Pelletier with 15 kills, and Ethan Aucoin with 40 assists and four aces.

 

The Hurricanes look to snap their four game losing streak as they host the UNBSJ Seawolves next Saturday at the McMillian Centre.

 

The Dragons look to continue their dominance over the division, as they host the Crandell Chargers next Friday.
