UNB Reds, 2025-26 ACAA Women's Rugby Champions!

(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS completed another perfect season Sunday and defended their Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association women's rugby championship with a 44-12 win over the Mount Allison Mounties.
UNB's Keanna Ryan, a senior member of the team, was named Player of the Game. She scored two tries and a conversion to power the REDS to victory.

"The whole team deserved today's win," said Ryan. "It was a great effort from all of the girls." UNB scored back-to-back tries and conversions to take an early lead, but Mounties fullback Jenay Spence broke free with an impressive run to score. She made the conversion as well, putting Mount A on the board and narrowing the REDS' lead to 14-7.

Madison Tingley, a member of the 2025 ACAA All-Conference team, scored, putting the REDS ahead 19-7 at the half.

A series of UNB tries came next, as Ryan, Tingley, Katie Bower, Emery Bowland, and Ella Myers extended the REDS' lead to 44-7.

Eilidh Cameron scored the final try of the day, for the Mounties, making the final score 44-12.

Bailey Andrews, UNB's head coach and ACAA Coach of the Year, said both teams delivered a strong performance during the championship match. "We've been working on our systems and have been making sure we operate as a team," she said. "It was great to see all of this team's hard work come together in today's game."

Spence was named Player of the Game for Mount A.

First-year RED Avery Sonders was named ACAA Rookie of the Year, while Myers earned ACAA Player of the Year honours.

"The girls dug in deep and came out on top," said Andrews.
