In their home game against the St Thomas University Tommies, the UKC Blue Devils started their game day off by wear orange t-shirts sporting #everychildmatters to bring awareness to residential schools following National Truth and Reconciliation Day on Sept 30th.
Now ranked 2nd in the league the Blue Devils will face the first place UNB Reds on Sunday, October 17th @ 2pm at home, which is sure to be a great show down.
Shortly after kick off the Tommies Becca King scored on a long run followed by a conversion from Kyleigh King. Not holding back the UKC ladies brought the score back to even (7-7) with a try from Chloe Beamish and a conversion from Taryn Hanrahan. The ladies then took a lead with three tries before half coming from Mali Triger (2) and Liv Obura. Score at halftime was 22-7 for the Blue Devils.
Following half Chloe Beamish broke the line again for her second try of the day with a conversion from Taryn Hanrahan to bring the score to 29-7. The Tommies then had multiple runs by Becca King (2) and Sarah Hetherington, with conversions by Kyleigh King (2) to bring the score to a close 29-26 in favour of the Blue Devils. The ladies then broke through with tries from Captain Rosa Toutah, Taryn Hanrahan and Catie Gannon to bring the score to 44-26. A final try by Mali Tiger and conversion by Taryn Hanrahan right before the final whistle left the game at 51-26 for the UKC Blue Devils.
