The UNB Saint John Seawolves took on the Mount Allison University Mounties Sunday in ACAA women's volleyball.
It was an exciting match from the beginning as teams traded momentum throughout the contest.
The Seawolves won the first set 25-21 and the Mounties responded to win the next two sets 25-23 and 25-13. The Seawolves rebounded to take the fourth set 25-16 and wrapped up the match with a convincing 15-11 win in the fifth set.
Dayna Alexander had 14 kills and 12 digs to lead the Seawolves. Megan LeBlanc added 12 kills and 13 digs and Taylor McGrattan contributed 42 assists.
Jadyn Boyles had 14 points and 10 digs for the Mounties. Rachel Van Gestel had 11 kills and 5 digs while Sophie Landry added 23 assists and Rachel McDougall contributed 21 assists.
The Seawolves raised their record to 9-6 to jump into third place in the ACAA ahead of the 9-6 Mounties (UNBSJ won two of the three matches this season).
The teams are back in action Saturday, February 2 when Seawolves host the Holland College Hurricanes at 5:30pm and the Mounties host the University of Sainte Anne Dragons Saturday, February 2 at 4:00pm.
