Hurricanes top Mounties in straight=set victory

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Holland Hurricanes defeated the Mount Allison Mounties in straight sets for the second time this season, and now lead the season series 2-0. The teams will face off once more in Sackville, NB on February 3rd. With the win, the Hurricanes improved to 6-3 (won-lost) while the Mounties fell to 7-3. The two teams are neck-and-neck with UNBSJ in a 3-way race for second place in the ACAA standings. The MSVU Mystics lead the circuit with a perfect 9-0 record. 

Abby Hyndman led the way for the Hurricanes with 19 kills, 11 digs, and three service aces. Brittany States and Taylor Allen each added eight kills as the Hurricanes pieced together set wins of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-22 in front of a loud gathering at the Centre for Community Engagement. 

Rachel MacDougall's nine kills and five digs gave life to the Mounties' attack. 

The Hurricanes will next host the UNBSJ Seawolves Sunday at 2:00 PM, while the Mounties will travel to Saint John to face the Seawolves after the holiday break, on January 12th.
