The 2019 Atlantic Collegiate Athletics Association soccer season is set to begin in one week and training camps at the eight member institutions are in full swing.
The ACAA defending champion Mount Saint Vincent Mystics, will open their season at home when they host the Crandall University Chargers on Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. The Mystics have a lot of experience and a great team-first mentality heading into the season. They have proven that they can excel on the pitch, in the classroom and within the community. “We have a team of strong leaders and they’re ready to step up and be counted on when needed,” says Mystics head coach Danielle Cyr.
With a trip to nationals under the team’s belt, veteran players understand what it takes to compete at the next level. “Our senior players are working hard to push each other to be consistent in their play”, says Cyr. “As a coaching staff, we’re most looking forward to seeing the players continue to grow and develop towards that next level”.
Other ACAA opening weekend matches include the UNB Saint John Seawolves at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7. That day also has the Holland College Hurricanes hosting the St. Thomas University Tommies at 1:00 p.m.
The 2019 ACAA Soccer Championships will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island. Holland College and the Hurricanes host this event featuring the top four teams from the men’s and women’s ACAA regular season standings. The winners will secure the ACAA title and earn a berth to the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national championships.
Concordia University will host the eight best teams in Canada during the 2019 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship. The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) institution will host the event Nov. 6-9, 2019 in Edmonton, AB.
