Tommies Roll to a Win Over Blue Devils

Fredericton, NB- The St. Thomas University Tommies took care of business against the University of King's College Blue Devils and walked away with a 71-5 victory.

The scoring got started early as Emily Donelle (Moncton, NB) scored four minutes into the game. It was the first of 3 tries on the day for her.

Third year lock Olivia Ricketts (Saint John, NB) busted off a 65 yard run for a try to put the Tommies up 15-0.

The Blue Devils got on the board late in the first half, but first year prop Kyra Gate (Truro, NS) shedding defenders on her way to a 70 yard rumble to get her first of three tries on the day.

"It's great to see people step up. We had a lot of first year players in this game," said head coach Meghan Morrison. "We had one of our players play their first game of rugby ever today. Graci Young, a first year player, a jiu-jitsu athlete who wanted to try rugby, and she was involved in some plays today."

Other tries for the Tommies were scored by Hope Metallic (Listuguj, QC) with two, Megan Pollard (Saint John, NB) and Becca Ring (Saint John) each with one. While Donelle converted 8 kicks, for a total of 31 points for the Tommies.

Players of the game were Metallic for the Tommies and Ryleigh Dodd (Calgary, AB) for the Blue Devils.

Next action for the Blue Devils will be October 14th vs Mount Allison, while the Tommies will be in action the same day against UNB.
