Strong Second Half Propels Mystics to Victory

Strong Second Half Propels Mystics to Victory

The Mystics used a 32- 8 third quarter to get their defence activated after a very lacluster effort in the first two periods. Holland came out on fire in the first quarter practically not mising and hitting from everywhere. It started right of the jump ball which the Mystics lost and the ball found its way to Holland's first year point guard, Ashley Plaggenhoef who nailed a three. From there the Hurricanes just battled with the Mystics in a very high scoring first half affair. Both teams struggled defensivley and the scoring skills of both teams were put on full display with the Hurricanes taking a 3 point lead to the half with a score of 49-46. That lead was short lived when the Mystics blew the game wide open with a 32 point third quarter through a complete team defensive effort. The Mystics cause turn over after turn over and then converted them into points quickly and efficiently. The fourth quarter was not much different as the Hurricanes looked tired playing in their back to back road games and the Mystics took full advantage of it down the stretch with a final 20-12 fourth and a 98-69 win. The Mystics go into the break at 8-0 and sit alone on top of the conference standings while Holland falls to 3-5.

Both teams finished up their first term games schedule and head in the exam and Christmas break. The Mystics start back up Dec 30th through to Jan 1st with exhibition play during the Dyrcik McDermott Invatational hosted by Mount Saint Vincent University.
