The UNBSJ Seawolves hosted the Holland College Hurricanes in ACAA women's basketball action Sunday in Saint John. The Seawolves rode the hot hand of Kathryn Magee to an 83-76 victory over the Hurricanes. Magee poured in a game high 22 points for the Seawolves who led by at least five points throughout the game. The Hurricanes made a couple of attempts to close the gap but came up short and the Seawolves were able to counter attack to preserve the lead and win.
Kelsey Simon added 13 points and two steals for the Seawolves who got eight rebounds from Alanna Hansen. The Hurricanes had three players in double figures - Ashley Plaggenhoef had 17 points, Jayla Verney 15 and Tyleigha Nelson finishes with 12 points and a game high 12 rebounds. All three players had three steals as well.
The Seawolves are now 1-0 while the Hurricanes drop to 0-2. The Seawolves travel to MSVU to play the Mystics November 10 while the Hurricanes are on the road again to play the Crandall University Chargers. Both games are at 2:00pm.
