The St. Thomas University Tommies made quick work of the UNB Saint John Seawolves in the first match of the season in ACAA men's volleyball action. The Tommies flew out of the gate, winning the first set 25-15 in 20 minutes as the Seawolves had nine service errors. It was similar in the second set with the Tommies taking it 25-17. The Seawolves started to play better in the third set and had the lead a few times before the Tommies put the icing on a three game sweep.
Christian Christie paced the Tommies attack with 11 kills and 10 digs while Ben Singer added 8 kills and Henry Doucet had 26 assists. Nathan Brown contributed 4 service aces.
Ryan Farrell had 12 digs and Ben Wilson 13 assists for the Seawolves. Ty Poore and Luke O'Grady each finished with 4 kills.
The Tommies are 1-0 and the Seawolves 0-1 to start the season. The Tommies travel to the Universite Sainte Anne for a 6:00pm match November 3. The Seawolves are off until they host Holland College November 10 at 4:00pm.
