2019-20 ACAA Badminton Season Preview

2019-20 ACAA Badminton Season Preview

The 2019/20 Atlantic Collegiate Athletics Association Badminton season is set to begin with training camps starting up shortly for the University of King’s College, Dal AC, Université Sainte Anne and Mount Allison. This year follows an exciting finish to 2018/19 by our conference where two athletes (Bryce Mason and Benn Van Rynn, University of King’s College) won a silver medal in Men’s Doubles at CCAA Nationals (hosted at Dal AC from March 6-9, 2019). This was an incredible feat for UKC and the ACAA which our athletes will be looking to build on for the upcoming season.

With a successful result at the 2019 National championships, the ACAA conference champion UKC Blue Devils are looking to continue their dominant ways. After losing a couple of seasoned veterans UKC will be looking to Bryce Mason to provide leadership for a group of talented incoming athletes “The upcoming season for the Blue Devils will be full of hard work! I look forward to sharing the knowledge and skills gained over the past 2 seasons representing UKC to help mentor our incoming athletes. We are excited to build on last year which proved practice, determination, and great coaching can help achieve your goals”.

The other three conference teams will have their eyes set on upsetting the defending conference champions and with a lot of new recruits and some seasoned veterans there are sure to be some exciting matches this season.

This year will feature 4 regular season events: Nov. 15 at Université Sainte Anne, Nov. 23 at Mount Allison, Jan. 18 at University of King’s College and Feb. 1 at Dal AC. The ACAA Conference Championships/National Qualifier will be hosted at UKC on February 15, 16, 2020 with CCAA Nationals taking place at the University of Toronto Mississauga from March 4-7.
