ACAA Cross Country Championships

On October 24th, runners gathered at the Universite Sainte-Anne for the ACAA Cross Country Championships. Four schools were represented at the championship meet; Universite Sainte-Anne, Mount Allison University, Nova Scotia Agricultural college, and St. Thomas University.

These athletes faced the pouring rain, powerful winds, and weather typical of winter to run the women’s 5 Km and men’s 8 Km races; without complaint. Eager to race and energized to run, athletes pushed against the weather in a well run event.

The women were led by Maddy Crowell and Zoey Frolking of Mount Allison University, who took home the gold and silver medals respectively. The Women’s ACAA All Conference team is made up of the four top runners – Maddy Crowell (MTA), Zoey Frolking (MTA), Olivia Long (STU), and Angelina Gorrill (USA).

The men were led by Parker Vaughn and Mitch Peters, of Mount Allison University, taking home gold and silver medals. The Men’s ACAA All Conference team is Parker Vaughn (MTA), Mitch Peters (MTA), Zachary Nicholson (STU), and Thomas Teakles (NSAC).

Mount Allison cleared the boards by scoring first place in both the men’s and women’s team grouping. Universite Sainte-Anne won second place for the men’s team competition while St. Thomas University took home Silver in the women’s, and third in the men’s division. Coach of the year went to Scott Davis of St. Thomas University.

The races were a huge success, and Universite Sainte-Anne did a wonderful job hosting!
